Folk*ish is the companion blog to Far Afield Quarterly Review, dedicated to shorter works, think pieces, and writing that moves in the space between observation and reflection.
We welcome experimental art, field notes, fragments, micro-essays, graphic narrative, and hybrid forms—pieces that are attentive, inquisitive, and shaped by a strong sense of place, memory, culture, or craft. Work may be personal or critical, lyrical or analytical, but should be concise and intentional in form.
Folk*ish is especially interested in writing that lingers on the edges of larger ideas: moments of noticing, small reckonings, and quiet arguments that don’t require a long frame to resonate.
Submissions should be previously unpublished.
